TRUMPET AWARDS CELEBRATES
AFRICAN-AMERICAN ACHIEVEMENT


The 2009 TRUMPET AWARDS continued its tradition in celebrating and honoring African-American achievement in diverse fields including law, medicine, business, politics and entertainment in Atlanta recently. The weekend of festivities - held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, included a Prayer Breakfast and High Tea with High Heels, a Singles Mix and Mingle, a Trumpet Health Fair, an International Civil Rights Walk of Fame Induction Breakfast and Ceremony, and a Sponsors and Honorees Dinner. The TRUMPET AWARDS Black Tie Ceremony was held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, January 25.

The 17th Annual TRUMPET AWARDS were hosted by Sherri Shephard, co-host of “The View” and Anthony Anderson, star of “Law and Order. Honorees for this year’s TRUMPET AWARDS were Dr. Alvin Crawford, Medicine; Raven-Symone, the Pinnacle Award; Earvin “Magic” Johnson, the Living Legend Award; Chief Richard Pennington, Law; Michael Roberts, Business; Johnathan Rodgers, Corporate; Chris Tucker, Entertainment; Tuskegee Airmen, Heroes. Presenters, celebrity guests, and honorees from previous TRUMPET AWARDS in attendance were Gloria Allred, Louis Gossett Jr., Lisa Leslie, Holly Robinson Peete, Ambassador Andrew Young, Juanita Bynum, The Bronner Family, Tom Joyner and Donna Richardson Joyner, Gary Sturgis, Dwight Eubanks and a few of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” and several others.

President and CEO of the Trumpet Awards Foundation, Inc., Xernona Clayton is the executive producer of the TRUMPET AWARDS. She is the innovative mind behind the first TRUMPET AWARDS held in 1993.
