The cast and filmmakers of MICHAEL celebrated the film at the Global Fan Premiere at Uber Eats Music Hall in Berlin, Germany, April 10. In attendance were stars Jaafar Jackson, Nia Long, Juliano Valdi, KeiLyn Durrel Jones, Joseph David-Jones, and Miles Teller, Director Antoine Fuqua, and Producer Graham King. Members of the Jackson Family were also present to honor Michael’s legacy.

The cast and filmmakers of MICHAEL celebrated the film at the Global Fan Premiere at Uber Eats Music Hall in Berlin, Germany, April 10. In attendance were stars Jaafar Jackson, Nia Long, Juliano Valdi, KeiLyn Durrel Jones, Joseph David-Jones, and Miles Teller, Director Antoine Fuqua, and Producer Graham King. Members of the Jackson Family were also present to honor Michael’s legacy.

The multi-day event will continue with an interactive installation, photo op, talks with the cast and crew, and dance party throughout the weekend.

MICHAEL | Hometown Special Screening Photos

CITY OF GARY, INDIANA HOSTS HISTORIC SCREENING WITH CAST, FILMMAKERS, AND THE JACKSON FAMILY HONORING MICHAEL JACKSON’S LEGACY

Set in the city where Michael Jackson’s journey began, the MICHAEL movie returned home for a powerful tribute to the global icon and community.

As a homecoming tribute, State Senator Mark Spencer, Mayor Eddie Melton, the City of Gary, the Gary Community School Corporation Superintendent, and the Gary International Black Film Festival hosted an exclusive screening at the Mark Spencer Theatre Auditorium at West Side Leadership Academy.

Talent including Jaafar Jackson and producer Graham King were joined by Michael’s son and executive producer Prince Jackson, along with Jackson brothers and executive producers Jackie Jackson, Marlon Jackson, and Jermaine Jackson for the red carpet and screening introduction. As the Jackson family and filmmakers took the stage, the room erupted in cheers and applause, filled with hometown pride for its very own. 

Senator Spencer also presented Jaafar Jackson with a state proclamation and the Mayor’s Key to the City in recognition of his artistic achievement and his role in bringing Michael’s story to life. There was also a ribbon cutting ceremony with Jackson Family members, to commemorate a brand new recording studio at West Side Academy. The screening also supported local youth through donations benefiting arts and athletics programming.

Following the screening, the family and filmmakers participated in a Q&A moderated by Mayor Melton where they praised Jaafar’s performance in the film and engaged in heartfelt conversation.
