TV Land’s SOUL MAN Season 2 Premieres June 19 11/10C!
The Season two launch of TV Land’s comedy series THE SOUL MAN starring Cedric the Entertainer, Nicey Nash and Wesley Jonathan, debuts for its second season Wednesday, June 19th at 11 PM PST/ 10 CT.
From the creators of Hot in Cleveland, THE SOUL MAN revolves around Cedric’s character, Reverend Boyce The Voice Ballentine, an R&B superstar-turned-minister who takes over as preacher of his father’s church. Niecy Nash (“Reno 911”) stars as the reverend’s wife, Lolli. The pilot also features John Beasley (Everwood) as his father, Wesley Jonathan (What I Like About You) as his younger brother, and Jazz Raycole (My Wife and Kids) as his daughter. The character of Reverend Boyce originated on a second season episode of Hot in Cleveland in which Cedric guest-starred.

Sonya’s Spotlight Publisher & Editor, Sonya Jenkins, and Spotlight assistant, Sydney Turpin, received an exclusive invite for THE SOUL MAN screening and Q&A session, followed by a cocktail reception at the W ATLANTA – MIDTOWN, June 17. THE SOUL MAN’S Wesley Jonathan, the host for the event, mingled with media guests and shared many tidbits about the upcoming season, including his success tips to aspiring actors.
“Study the craft,” Wesley advised young actors. “People think it’s easy, but it’s not. They think, ‘Oh, I can do that.’ But you have to convey reality, while still entertaining. The best training for me was watching TV and films. Be persistent and don’t get your talents confused with your passions. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.”

About Jonathan:
Wesley Jonathan plays Burrell Stamps Ballentine, Reverend Boyce ‘The Voice’ Ballentine’s brother, in TV Land’s original sitcom, The Soul Man.
Moving seamlessly between comedic and dramatic roles in both television and film since he was a child, Jonathan has an impressive range of acting talent. He is not only a gifted dancer and athlete but he has also starred in countless movies, television shows and commercials.
Jonathan made his television debut at the tender age of eight, appearing on the smash FOX series 21 Jump Street. He was a series regular on The WB’s top-rated sitcom, What I Like About You starring Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth and the syndicated Teen NBC series City Guys. He has also guest-starred in some of the most popular shows on television including NCIS, Cold Case, 90210, and CSI: Miami. Jonathan’s extensive list of film credits include Speed Dating, Love Will Keep Us Together, The Effect, Remember the Daze, Crossover, Roll Bounce, and The United States of Leland. He was also a producer and star of the feature Dysfunctional Friends starring Stacey Dash and Terrell Owens. He also starred in David E. Talbert’s play for BET, What Goes Around Comes Around.
Jonathan always finds time to give back to the community, especially to causes that benefit children.
