The eight-episode unscripted series will explore how coaches deal with anger management and bow in 2015.

Spike TV is teaming with NFL legend Ray Lewis for a new series exploring coaching and anger management.

The Viacom-owned cable network has ordered eight hourlong episodes of Coaching Bad, which will feature nine coaches receiving instruction from Lewis and anger management specialist Dr. Christian Conte. The series, which will film in Los Angeles, will debut in the first quarter of 2015.

The coaches come from a variety of different sports from across the country, with the series featuring the nine moving into a Coaching Center in Los Angeles for intense retraining and reconditioning in a program designed by Lewis and Conte that will include three phases of transformation: assessing the coaches’ baseline anger issues, working to create real change, and putting that change to the test. For many of those participating, the program may be their last hope to save their jobs — and their marriage.

Various sports figures will guest-star and share the negative effects of caustic coaching. Chuck Pagano, Bill Romanowski and Glen “Big Baby” Davis are among those set to appear.

The series hails from Irwin Entertainment’s (Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew, Couples Therapy) John Irwin, Damian Sullivan and Richard Hall. Spike vp development Hayley Lozitsky will oversee for the network, with Spike exec vp original series Sharon Levy and Spike senior vp original series Chris Rantamaki also on board.

“Spike TV is thrilled to partner with one of the greatest players in NFL history in a compelling new series that will shine a light on the ever-growing issue of coaches and their anger issues,” Levy said. “Who better than Ray to bestow insight and wisdom to these coaches after his storied career as a leader on and off the field during his playing days with the University of Miami and Baltimore Ravens.”

Lewis spent 17 years with the Ravens and was a 13-time Pro Bowler. He earned NFL Defensive Player of the Year twice and has two Super Bowl rings and was named Super Bowl MVP once. He currently serves as an NFL broadcaster for ESPN.

Conte is a licensed professional counselor, nationally certified psychologist, author and professional speaker who specializes in anger management and communication.
